The Disability Rights UK (formerly R.A.D.A.R) promote a UK National Key Scheme, whereby specially manufactured locks are fitted in toilet facilities UK wide and can only be operated using a special RADAR key. The National Key Scheme offers disabled people independent access to locked public toilets around the country. Toilets fitted with RADAR locks can now be found in shopping centres, pubs, cafe’s, department stores, bus and train stations and many other locations in most parts of the country. RADAR Keys are available to disabled or registered blind people to enable them to access facilities safely, comfortably and without the need to queue for public W.C’s. This aims to give protection against vandalism or misuse, so that a clean and functional toilet is available when required. The New RADAR Access Control Kits consists of an aluminium panel that is fitted on the outside wall of the toilet, which is operated by the RADAR key to unlock the door. This panel has two LED’s to indicate occupied and vacant. A second aluminium panel is fitted on the inside of the toilet, which has two buttons to lock/open the door and indicate the current lock status. Capability as standard to fit all control and automatic operator due to the integration of a double pole relay within the PCB/PSU. The kits are supplied complete with a slim line or standard electro-magnetic lock to secure the door, a pull cord for emergency use, a manual call point for manual override, a key switch to deactivate the system and a 1A power supply unit. A RADAR Key is also supplied to test the system.
