The SKP1 Surface Mounted Key Switch has a white polycarbonate housing and is designed for use as a "passkey switch" for security related applications in alarm and access control systems. The security grading under BS EN 50131-1:2006 is Grade 2 and Environmental Class II.
Principles of Operation and Use
The SKP1 is a two position key switch that provides a simple on / off function, the lock has a 90° index with the key removable in each position. Variants are available with the key trapped in either the on or off positions, with several locks using the same key number or master key suited and a biased or spring return function is also available. The SKP1 should not be used in safety related applications.
Loads
Maximum ratings in the "Specification and Ratings" table are for dc voltage and resistive loads. The key operates a SPCO single pole change over micro switch with a maximum rating of 50Vdc 3 Amps. There is also a N/C tamper switch for connection to 24 hour Anti tamper circuit of an alarm system, the maximum rating for this is 50Vdc 0.5 Amp
Fitting and Adjustment
When considering fixing positions refer to "Principles of Operation and Use". Remove the two fixing screws and separate the back and front plates. Remove the microswitch from the back plate, mark out and drill the fixing holes and cable entry hole, fix the back plate using the two holes provided ensuring the fixing slot is lowermost. Consideration should be given to the safe routing of the connecting cable which may be either concealed through the back plate or surface mounted in mini trunking. See "Schematic Diagram" for electrical connections; check the contact ratings are not exceeded. Make electrical connections to the microswitch and tamper switch then refit the microswitch onto the pins provided ensuring the cable is clear of the microswitch lever. Refit the front plate and test for correct operation.
Maintenance
To clean, wipe with a damp cloth, do not immerse in water or cleaning fluid. The SKP1 Key Switch should be routinely checked for correct operation.
